Q: How is the reishi extracted?
Water extraction! The process is used to extract the bioactive compounds and nutrients from mushrooms using water as a solvent. This method involves steeping or simmering the mushrooms in water at a specific temperature and duration to release their beneficial compounds, such as beta-glucans, polysaccharides, and other phytonutrients. The resulting liquid, known as a mushroom extract, is then spray dried into a powder and incorperated into our capsules. Water extraction is a popular technique to enhance the bioavailability and therapeutic properties of mushrooms, making their nutrients more easily absorbed by the human body.
Q: What does a 4:1 resihi extract mean?
The amounts of extracts are listed in two different formats: the amount of an ingredient and the quantity crude equivalent (or QCE). The ratio is of the extract meaning that for every X grams (or mg) of a certain extract to be produced, it takes X grams (or mg) of the raw/unprocessed ingredient. In this case, it means that for every 1 mg of reishi extract, it takes 5 mg of raw or unprocessed reishi.
Q: What part of the mushroom is being used in the product?
We use the fruiting body of reishi. We try and use the part of the plant that contains the most bioactive ingredients so that we can get the highest potency during the extraction process. Higher potency means fewer doses.
